I believe this product is working on our 2nd bag of hoof health and 1/2 way through our 3rd bag of metastable. My 22 year old mare was experiencing a laminitic episode after 3 months of being off due to suspensory branch strains. Her 1st time off after 10 years of riding her 4 days a week. Hoof health combined with Metastable in my opinion 100% helped stop the laminitis from progressing combined with very minimal pasture time feed adjustments and still out in large stomped down pasture wearing boots. I understand this is not a cure all product and does not mend any damage however as Formula 707 speaks about I firmly believe it aids in the insulin regulation and both products are extremely helpful in the recovery process. Currently 16 weeks in using both products the mare is out on pasture morning and evening barefoot galloping kicking up heels. Noting these two supplements are added to daily feed regimen. Daily feed regiments and pasturing scenarios vary for each individual horse on a case by case situation. In our case metastable and hoof health have proven to be effective and I will continue to utilize these products. I’ve also used the fly spray and appreciate how well it works and doesn’t create any itchiness after applying!

Is this safe for insulin resistant horses?

Formula 707 Hoof Health Pellets are formulated with a low non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) content, making them generally suitable for insulin-resistant horses. The sugars present in the product are from dextrose and molasses, which are included in minimal amounts for palatability. The total serving size is small at 1 oz., and the scoop is slightly less than 1/5 cup. However, because every horse's needs are unique, we strongly recommend consulting with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplement to your horse’s diet.

How much biotin is in each scoop?

There is 14.6 mg of biotin in each scoop of Hoof Health pellets. This is between the recommended 10-20mg for the average-sized horse.

Will this fix laminitis?

Our product (or any hoof supplement) unfortunately won't address the underlying issue of laminitis. These pellets are formulated to address growth and integrity from the damage that has been left behind from laminitis episodes.

I saw a transformation post. Are Hoof Health pellets a magical fix to hoof issues?

NO - and please don't ever believe there is a magical supplement that will fix all your horse's hoof ailments! Hoof Health pellets are a great tool to help your horse grow strong and healthy hoof. It will not fix any ailment by itself. Always have a trusted farrier or trimmer and veterinarian on your horse's healthcare team.

Can I feed this to other species?

This product is made for equine specifically. Please consult your veterinarian before feeding to another species. Do NOT feed to sheep, as the levels of copper in this product could be toxic.

Any hoof supplement takes a bit more patience than other types of equine supplements. Hoof Health pellets help the horse grow healthy hoof, which can take anywhere from several months to a year for a horse to grow a completely "new" hoof wall. 

Where are these Hoof Health pellets made?

We make our Hoof Health pellets in our own manufacturing facility in LaSalle, Colorado (just about an hour north of Denver).

This has molasses in it... isn't that bad for my laminitic/insulin resistant/metabolic horse?

We do have a very small amount of molasses in the formula to help with palatability. When calculated out - it is less than 0.035 oz of sugar, which is <0.01% of the daily sugar intake of a horse being fed a low-sugar Timothy hay. f you have specific concerns about incorporating a scoop into your horse's diet, please consult your veterinarian.
